S-5: Runner-up in 2024 U.S. Women's Amateur
The breakout female amateur of 2024 was Asterisk Talley. At 15 years, 105 days, the Chowchilla, Calif., resident was the youngest competitor in the 2024 U.S. Women's Open at Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club and all she did was share low-amateur honors with 2023 U.S. Women's Amateur champion Megan Schofill and University of Southern California All-American Catherine Park. That came just after she won the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball title with fellow Northern Californian Sarah Lim. Then she was the runner-up to Filipina Rianne Malixi in both the U.S. Girls' Junior and U.S. Women's Amateur before representing the USA in the Curtis Cup Match at Sunningdale G.C. in England, where she beat world No. 1 Lottie Woad in Sunday singles. Also in 2024, Talley, a member of the USGA's inaugural U.S. National Junior Team, won the prestigious Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, finished eighth in the Augusta National Women's Amateur and represented her country in the Junior Solheim Cup. In 2023, she captured the Rolex Girls Junior Championship, one of the major events on the American Junior Golf Association circuit. She also represented her country in the 2023 Junior Solheim Cup in Spain, and advanced to the Round of 32 of the 2023 U.S. Girls' Junior. A year earlier, she reached the Round of 16 in the U.S. Girls' Junior at 13 years of age.
